Future versions of Parsec, including Parsec for Windows version 150-97 (Target EOY 2024) will require loader version 12, as we are deprecating the certificate included with loader version 11.
Windows devices running loader version 11 or lower will fail to update to 150-97 or future versions. Loader version 12 was released in October 2023 and we expect almost all Parsec devices to have automatically updated to this loader version soon after.
That said, there may be some lingering out of date devices. In order to view out of date devices, we will provide two methods to view and update.
Admins: If out of date Team Computers are detected in your environment we will show a banner that will be visible on your Team Computers management page. Only Windows computers that are set up with a Team ID and Key will be listed, those signed in with a username or password will not be listed.
In order to update these devices, you can run our manual upgrade binary on each device (requires elevated permissions to run). Running this binary will not interrupt the authentication or assignment of the device.
End users: We will show a banner inside the application to warn end users that their loader is out of date, and that they must run the manual upgrade binary (requires elevated permissions to run).
Non-Windows devices are not impacted.
The Parsec loader is called parsecd.exe and is located in C:\Program Files\Parsec. The loader is responsible for verifying the security and loading of our application data found in the parsec-150-XXX.dll file.
