Starting with version 150-102, Parsec now supports multi-channel audio to allow for a more immersive sound experience during your remote sessions. This feature is designed for users who play games or work with surround sound.
Requirements
Host: Must be a Windows machine
Client: Must be a Windows machine
Note: Support for macOS hosts and clients is coming in a later release.
How to configure
Multi-channel audio is handled automatically by the Parsec app, with both Opus and RAW encoding and decoding supported.
The speaker configuration on the host and the client must match (e.g., both must be set to 5.1, or both must be set to 7.1). If there is a mismatch between the host and client settings, Parsec will default to sending standard stereo audio as shown in the below table.
| Host Configuration | Client Configuration | Resulting Audio Format |
| Stereo | Stereo | Stereo |
| Stereo | 5.1 | Stereo |
| Stereo | 7.1 | Stereo |
| 5.1 | Stereo | Stereo |
| 5.1 | 5.1 | 5.1 |
| 5.1 | 7.1 | Stereo |
| 7.1 | Stereo | Stereo |
| 7.1 | 5.1 | Stereo |
| 7.1 | 7.1 | 7.1 |
